Things I Remember
2020
At first I was looking for City Limit in my archives.
The search became a book.
While working on the 2019 exhibition in NUS museum, I started searching for a slide taken in 1982 of a sign board from the colonial era that marked the city limit. This was in order to prepare a section of the exhibition that would show my early photographic interaction with the city. The slide was somewhere in my Singapore boxes, but while looking for that specific images, a whole lot of other images started popping up calling for attention. Within a couple of hours, the project of a book gathering analogue photographs of Singapore before my switch to digital imaging in the early 2000 took shape. These would be the Things I Remember, Singapore before the digital age.
A small selection from the two hundred over photos gathered in the book.
