Talking Eyes

1983

Talking Eyes was an adventure that took a few of us by surprise. It started as a timely meeting with François Verlet during the 1981 New Year Party. François had a vision. He wanted to use of the power of music and light to change the world, so to speak.  I was all for it of course. Let me dance my soul away and I will be the happiest man on Earth.

For three years we did part our life away, organising wild nights that mixed kampung life with disco beat, dreamlike settings with outrageous performances, beautiful people with luscious fruits. These were the magic nights of the Art of the Parties.

We also did more respectable projects, such as audio-visual productions. One of them, meant to present the up-coming MRT system to the public, even saw me designing the first network map of the Singapore Subway! The highlight of our activities was a commission by Jessica Leo for an outdoor multimedia show in the first Singapore Festival of Arts' Fringe.
